All About Alzheimer’s: Unprecedented Government Funding, Linguistics, Stress and a Link with Prostate Cancer

The National Institutes of Health has released its annual report 2014-2015 Alzheimer’s Disease Progress Report: Advancing Research Toward a Cure,” detailing NIH supported and conducted Alzheimer’s disease research initiatives.

Congress has reached a spending deal including an unprecedented increase in funding for Alzheimer’s research, or $350 million in fiscal 2016. If the White House approves the proposal, it would increase government spending on the disease by more than 50 percent, reports the Washington Post. The funding is part of monies allocated for the National Institutes of Health, which is seeing its biggest funding increase in 10 years.
