What makes Steele House feel like home

Lighthouse was founded by Liz Littleton, RN, and Tom Littleton, MBA. They started it because they saw how much a home-like setting can mean to older adults. Steele House has a smaller household, so days have a familiar rhythm: home-cooked meals and snacks, time for conversation, and activities that residents can join at their own pace. Those might include exercise and walks, puzzles and games, music and sing-alongs, gardening, or a favorite movie.

Our staff are trained in the Eden Alternative®, an approach that sees aging as a time of continued growth. In practice, that means paying attention to each person's preferences, routines and sense of purpose, not just their care tasks.

Support available through Lighthouse

Each resident has a personalized care plan built from a nursing assessment. Support available through Lighthouse includes:

  • help with bathing, dressing and personal hygiene
  • medication administration
  • laundry and housekeeping
  • weekly manicures and pedicures
  • care for people living with dementia, Alzheimer's or Parkinson's
