FAQ’s for QMAP classes offered by Lighthouse Assisted Living

How often is the class offered?

We try to host a class once a month as well as one testing day once a month

How many students are allowed to enroll in the class?

We have a max of 20 students in the class and up to 20 students who can log into the class online

If we participate in the class online, do we have to come in person at all?

You can be part of the class online but everyone has to take the written and practical portion of the test in person

How long does the class last?

Each class is between 6-8 hours, 9am-5pm

If I am in the online class, can I still participate in the class that I am watching?

Yes! Anyone who is attending the class online is encouraged to ask questions and interact with all of the students in the class.

If I am in the class online, what does that look like in the classroom?

All online students need to have the video and audio components of their computers activated. We will be able to see you and you will be able to see us. You will also be able to see the power point slides directly on your computer

Can more than one student be in class from the same computer?

Yes, several people can be in the class from one computer, however, it is important that each student can see the slides and have access to the microphone so that they can ask questions. Each person who is logged into the class must have previously enrolled in the class and paid via Eventbrite

What do I need in order to participate in the online class?

Our QMAP classes are offered via zoom. You will receive a link in your email with directions on how to log onto the class. You must have good Wi-Fi and you must have a computer with video and audio capability

What if I have loud noises or other interferences in the place where I am remotely logging into the class (ex dog barking, kids talking)?

It is the policy that if you are on the class remotely, you must mute your computer unless you are asking a question or participation in a discussion

Can I listen to the class from my phone?

You can use headphones and use your phone but you must go through zoom regardless of what device you are using. You also must keep your camera on and notify the teacher if and when you log out.

What happens if the internet goes down in the middle of class?

You will have to go back to your email and log into the meeting again. We will be alerted that you left and came back.

Is the zoom invite good for any of the QMAP classes at Lighthouse?

Each class has its own ID and you will only receive one ID for the class you have registered and paid for. It WILL NOT work for any other class

What if I do not use the ID and log into the class I have paid for?

This is the same as registering for a regular class and not showing up. There will be no refunds if you choose to not come to the class remotely or in person.

What is the refund policy?

If you cancel 2 weeks or more prior to the class date, you will receive a full refund. If it is less than 2 weeks before the class, it is non-refundable. We have a max number of students in each class and these slots are very difficult to fill so close to the class date. Classes tend to fill up very quickly.

Are the test days set in stone?

Yes, all the test days are the day after the class is done and the exam begins at 8AM.

What happens if I miss the test day?

This is considered a no show and you WILL NOT receive a refund for the class

What is the passing grade for the test?

Everyone must pass the written test with an 80% and the practical with 100%

Is there a discount if I have to take the class again because I do not pass?

No, we do not offer any discounts

Does Lighthouse offer QMAP classes for other communities at their communities?

Yes, but that has to be arranged with Liz. The remote option allows for communities to host the class for their employees wherever they would like and still be part of a larger class. Everyone must still come in for the test in person.

Can test days be arranged for other communities?

Depending on how many students are in one setting, we may be able to arrange a test day for those students. This must be coordinated with Liz in advance.

How do I pay for the class if I do not have a credit card?

You must pay for the class via Eventbrite which will require a credit card. Lighthouse does not accept any other form of payment for the class.
